The concept of Cyber security is akin to war scenario. While the later constitute physical battling for supremacy, the former involves information or and documents protection from data breaches, information encryption, stealing, denial of service, identity theft and the likes. Unlike the traditional fighting equipment, “DATA” provides the driving force that is used to connect the globe and its warfare devices [computer devices] to the internet platform where the digital-stage of cyber warfare takes place.
As we embraced the trending information age, the big question now is, how many of us are prepared to participate in this digital-stage – which has pros and cons – and come out without being a victim? This is where cyber security awareness comes into place. Ignorance of the law they say, is not an excuse. Inasmuch as cyber security experts are doing their possible best to curtail the negative effect of the digital-stage, everybody has the responsibility of protecting themselves because security is everyone’s business.
We are advised to be cautious while surfing the internet and reduce the amount of personal information we put out there on the stage. Think before clicking any link, especially the dubious ones, knowing fully well that your information or data can fall into the hands of miscreants and used for wrong purposes. Be aware of the risk, educate yourself so as to overcome your enemy.
