Keylogger

Keylogger is one of common password attacks which malicious actors can perform on an unsuspecting victims

It involves use of malicious software that records keystrokes with intention of capturing the passwords as users type them.

As a type of malicious code, it records every keystroke made on a computer or mobile gadget. Imagine someone monitoring everything you type on your system. That is what best explains what a keylogger does. This sneaky malware keeps track of every keystroke you make, from login passwords to credit card details.

Keyloggers can be installed through phishing emails, compromised links or software downloads, it can even be achieved through physical access to a device.

Once installed, they can run unnoticed in the background, recording keystrokes and sending them to the threat actor.

You may try to protect yourself by:

  1. Use of proper antivirus software to scan and keep your system protected.
  2. Avoiding suspicious emails , links and suspicious downloads.
  3. Use of strong passwords and employ two-factor authentication
  4. Keeping your operating system and software always updated.
