Fake Devices

Fake / Rogue Devices

Rogue devices are fake or “look-alike” network names that can be planted by bad guys with intention of diverting the network traffics to their own controlled gadgets. They mimic your network access points using the same credentials and waits for you to connect to it as if it is the familiar one.

Make sure you monitor your network connections to verify you are connecting to trusted and recognized devices and your true SSID [ Service Set Identifier]. Free internet connections often posse the same threat and are not safe since you may not know the source or intention of the originator of the network.

Free things can come with some security lapses. Rogue Devices can be planted by malicious actors to steal people’s credentials for nefarious purposes.

With Rogue devices, you will be under attack and you may not even know it because it mimics your true network details and seems the same with the genuine one.

Stay safe while you connect to the world. Check before your connect.
