System Logs

System logs are seen as recorder of digital footprints. They are basically running diary of everything happening inside a computer, phone, or server. The operating system and applications continuously record events so you can monitor activities, troubleshoot issues, and understand what went wrong when anomalies occur.

Logs are crucial for security evaluation. System Logs record events on your network, like login attempts, file changes, and network connections. They are akin to a CCTV camera for your digital world that helps in detecting suspicious activities, forensic investigations. Logs can also be used to monitor compliance with regulations when it is time for system audits.

However, logs are useful if monitored and analyzed regularly, otherwise they will accumulate in your systems and contribute to system slowness. Use tools like SIEM (Security Information and Events Management) to streamline log analysis.
